The .577 Nitro Express, originally a popular black powder cartridge of the 1880's had a 2.75" case which was later altered to 3". Shortly before the turn of the century the current 3" smokeless version was introduced and for a period the shorter version was also loaded as a smokeless round.
Both are now available from Kynoch but the shorter 2.75" is by special order.
